With the dream of reaching Italy, they traveled on civilian planes, often searching for a living that would meet the needs of their families living under extreme poverty in their remote towns and villages. But the chaos they encountered in Libya led them into those prisons under the control of traffickers of human beings between the two continents.   This is the case of hundreds of Moroccans, many of them smuggled by human traffickers in Libya and  kidnapped in Libyan prisons. The most famous of these are the Zuwara prison near the Tunisian border, the Tajoura prison in Tripoli and the Seka prison in the outskirts of Tripoli. Prisons in Libya were used in the Gaddafi era against the prisoners of conscience.
