The Radisson Blue Hotel in Bamako has witnessed on Wednesday 20th September the launch of the project "Youth employment creates new opportunities in Mali". This projects will receive funds for more than 13 billion over a period of four years and it supported by a consortium made up by SNV, ICCO, WASTE (all Dutch agencies) and by the APEJ. The project's overall aim is to contribute to the development of economic opportunities and to social stability in the region of Kayes, Koulikoro, Gao and in the Bamako district.

The project targets young people aged 18-40. The General Director of SNV, the ambassador of the Netherlands in Mali and the representative of the European Union delegation in Mali, Alain Holleville, have all underlined that this project will create new opportunities for the country. For the ministry of employment and professional training, Maouloud Ben Kattra, the project's aim is to address the challenges posed by irregular migration and violent extremism, two phenomena affecting today Africa, the Middle East and Asia, where conflicts and crises still persist.
