More than a hundred migrants escaped last week from a smuggling camp in Bani Walid, in Western Libya, local sources and international organizations report. Among them, the NGO "Doctors Without Borders" (MSF) reported that 25 people were injured by bullets during the escape.

MSF said that, according to survivors, at least 15 people died while trying to flee the secret prison in Bani Walid and at least 40 people, mainly women, remained imprisoned. "Scars caused by electrocution and old infected wounds give an idea of the hardships they have experienced. People are traumatized and the majority are unaccompanied minors," the source reported.
